HISTORY:

The recipients of the 2006 RESULTS COUNT awards were announced during the Atlanta Women in Business international businesswomen's conference, held September 8 and 9 or last year at the Crowne Plaze Atlanta Perimeter.

Roedl & Partner, a global accounting firm, was recognized for its support of women in the workplace. Accepting the award were Saskia Bonenberg of Roedl's Nuremberg, Germany, office, and Linda Alliston, a partner in the firm's Atlanta office.

The woman-owned business award went to Carl House, a special events facility popular with North Georgia's brides and grooms, for its phenomenal growth over the past three years. Owner BB Webb accepted it, crediting her staff and the support of the Gwinnett/Barrow communities for the facility's accomplishments.

The 2005 awards were announced at the April 20-21 GWEN (Georgia Women Entrepreneurs) conference at Lake Lanier Islands. Grace Williams & Associates, an accounting firm in Norcross, was honored for its demonstrated growth record, while Manpower Inc., a Fortune 200 staffing company, was recognized for its record of promoting women to supervisory, managerial and executive positions. Grace Williams & Associates is headed by Grace Williams, whose voice has for years been influential in Atlanta’s Latino community. Ms. Williams received the 1999 Business Woman of the Year award from the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and was named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine last year. Grace Williams & Associates is one of the largest Latino-owned companies in Georgia. Manpower Inc. is the recipient of our 2005 corporate Results Count award. The company is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and provides professional staffing services through 4,300 offices in 68 countries and territories, with several in the Atlanta area. The company was recently recognized by Fortune Magazine as the Most Admired Company in the staffing industry for the third consecutive year and named to the National Association for Female Executives 2005 list of Top 30 Companies for Executive Women. Beth Herman, regional director, accepted the award on Manpower’s behalf.

In 2004, Atlanta Women in Business bestowed its first RESULTS COUNT awards. The corporate award was given to The Home Depot, for its diversity policies that have allowed an unprecedented promotion rate of women to supervisory, managerial and executive positions. The recipient of the 2004 RESULTS COUNT woman-owned business award was Georgia Tank Lines, for its sustained growth over the years. Accepting the awards were, respectively, Diane Dayhoff, The Home Depot's Vice President of Investor Relations, and, for Georgia Tank Lines, co-founder Deborah Latham.
